Useful Tips

Hi Collectors, This is a page of useful hints on caring for your wonderful Antiques and Collectibles.

Your antiques and collectibles are an investment that will only increase in value. It is very important to keep your collectible investment in great condition. If it becomes damaged it can be greatly de-valued.

Please remember that due to age conditions always go slow with your vintage items.

Of course the tips below are just suggestions. I cannot be responsible for your outcome.

Dolls

For increased value always save all packaging, tags anything that pertains to your dolls or toys. And of course that pertains to all types of antiques and collectibles.

Dolls with inset eyes should always be stored face down.

DO NOT ALLOW TAPE TO STAND ON ANY VINTAGE COLLECTIBLE AS IN TIME IT WILL DISCOLOR THE ITEM.

If you are going to store your dolls please remove their clothes as some colors can fade into the skin of the doll. Not fixable and very de-valueing. Remove any metal that might rust.

Check your dolls from time to time for insects. Insects love wood and wonderful wool clothing.

Here's a tip that has always worked for me to remove ink and other stains on my vintage dolls. Purchase a tube of Clearasil and dab some on the stain. Let it dry for a while. Then remove it with a damp cloth. If you need to repeat feel free to do so. This has worked great for me.

After you have cleaned your vintage doll wipe it with a cloth dampened with distilled water to remove any soap residue that might cause discoloration.
